Answer: The paper reports on the findings of a study into levels of motivation amongst employees within local authority public leisure facilities. The purpose was to examine the motivational elements of the Investors in People quality standard in accredited and non-accredited facilities. A two-stage method was employed in which an attitudinal questionnaire and semi-structured interview were administered. The research was carried out on 3 IiP accredited facilities and 3 non-IiP accredited facilities; 30 respondents (N=60) and the manager from each. The comparison of the two samples allowed inferences to the extent to which Investors in People raises employee motivation. Conclusions were made including areas of recommendation.
