Question: What are the consequences of disrupting biological rhythms?

Answer: Before we look at the consequences of disrupting biological rhythms we must first understand what bio-rhythms are; bio- rhythms can be defined as regular variations in biological activity. There have been many studies into what bio- rhythms are controlled by; endogenous pacemakers (bio-clock) or exogenous zietgebers (external factors).

In 1975 a French psychologist named Michel Siffre spent six months in an underground cave with the aim of finding out if circadian rhythms (daily cycles) such as the sleep-waking cycle would continue if the external zietgeber of light was removed....(short extract)
