Answer: Congressional elections take place every two years. These elections are held across the US in order to elect both Representatives and Senators. Congressional elections fail to fulfil their democratic functions to a great extent as Congressional elections due to their lack of accountability and social representation. However others may argue that congressional election do not fail to fulfil their democratic functions because mid-term elections allow the public to give their expressions.
Congressional elections do fail to fulfil their democratic functions to a great extent due to their lack of accountability. Gerrymandering and redistricting hinders accountability because it produces safe seats, which is on in which the incumbent has a considerable majority over the closest rival and which is largely immune from swings in voting choice.
