Question: Is all Ethical Language meaningless?
Answer: Ethicists have debated for years on whether ethical language has any true meaning. Using words such as, good, bad, right or wrong are considered meaningless by many as statements using these words are based on emotion and opinion.
Some cognitive theories of Meta-ethics strongly disagree with the notion that all ethical is meaningless. Cognitive theories are descriptive and argue that we have moral knowledge and that ethical statements are factual therefore they can be proved true or false. One cognitive theory is ethical naturalism. Ehtical naturalism is a objective ethical theory which uses empirical knowledge (knowledge derived from sense experience). This argues that ethical and non-ethical statements are the same and just as meaningful as each other.
