Answer: Gottfried Leibniz (July 1646 – November 1716) was one of the greatest mathematicians of the modern world. As an engineer he worked on calculating machines, clocks and even mining machinery. As a librarian he more or less invented the modern idea of cataloguing and as a mathematician he produced revolutionary work in what is now called topology. In logic, he worked on binary systems among numerous other areas and as a physicist he made advances in mechanics, specifically the theory of momentum....(short extract)
