Answer: The process through which children develop and mature is a fascinating subject to study. Within this piece of writing I aim to compare, contrast and critically evaluate the theories of Piaget and Vygotsky, who were both influential in forming a scientific approach to analysing the cognitive development process of the child’s active construction of knowledge. I will relate the points raised by the theorists to the classroom and the implications for the teachers attempting to meet pupils varying needs.
