Question: An analysis of the teaching of reading during school experience one.
Answer: It would be hard to argue against Pryke D’s (1990) assertion that learning to read is seen from the outset as one of the most important outcomes of schooling and is the preoccupation of parents, teachers and employers (p.2). This is because reading is an essential ingredient of our every day lives, whether it is reading a newspaper or reading the instructions on a job application form. This essay will attempt to analyse the teaching of reading during my school experience one. In particular it will focus on the text specific work during the literacy hour and the children’s reading journals, as well as discussing others examples of reading, but first the school will be described for the purposes of context....(short extract)
