Answer: In this TMA I shall begin by outlining how I would like to see change in mental health services, namely by increasing service user involvement and consultation through the systematic gathering of the service user voice. To illustrate this, I shall discuss different methods for gathering the service user voice; explore how service user stories can help reduce misconceptions; how understanding can promote equal partnership between service users and providers. Following on from this I shall outline how I believe this might help meet the needs of those affected by mental ill health. In addition, I shall outline the challenges that such an approach may meet. Finally, I shall explore how all this may impact on service provision and what may need to happen in order to achieve change and, hopefully, improvements in mental health services.
