Ruth is concerned that Scientific Management may no longer be appropriate in this
business.
In the context of her plans for the future, comment on the benefits and the risks of
adopting "Human Relations" as a general approach to managing the business.

Answer: Task 1.
Scientific management has outlived its usefulness and it's time to move towards an
approach, which allows greater participation and involvement by the staff of Bladders
company, which I believe Human Relations Approach comes in, which is more flexible
way and will help Ruth take more notice of ideas from the members of staff.
Whilst Jacob was managing sladders everything had to follow the principles of the
Scientific Management. Jacob values and beliefs reflected in the attention to rules,
procedures and control in all the departments,
"scientific management focuses exclusively on extrinsic motivation and ignores the
important role of intrinsic motivation" (Fredrick Taylor, 1911)
Scientific management is more about the work than the workers. This narrow focus
results in several disadvantages for workers and the organisations trying to motivate them.
