Answer: The 1905 Russian Revolution was a wave of mass political and social unrest that spread through the Tsarist Empire. A prominent trigger of the 1905 revolution was Russia’s defeat in the Russo-Japanese war between 1904-1905 which grew from Russia’s attempt to expand its control and dominance in northern china and Korea which conflicted with japans national interests. Tsar Nicholas II believed that a defeat against Japan would potentially advance belief in autocracy. Although Russians saw themselves as a far superior military power, they suffered a humiliating defeat. Such defeat caused unrest against the government and further military, economic and political issues for Russia and therefore responsible in the origin of the 1905 revolution.
