Answer: To some people the 1960s were the best of times, to others it was a period when many things went wrong in society. The swinging 60s was definitely a time of controversy. To some it was the opportunity to express one self through fashion, music and political views. Others believed that cracks were appearing in society and these new attitudes were having a negative effect.
The music scene in the 1960s was exciting and original. New bands like The Beatles and the Rolling Stones emerged and were very different from those groups around in the 1950s. They were young talented musicians from England who not only wrote their own music and lyrics, but they also played their instruments. Their appeal was widespread; young and old alike enjoyed their sounds.
