The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has two purposes; to conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the area, and to promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the national park by the public. Public access is crucial to the ethos of the national park, and the Yorkshire Dales national park has over 400 square miles of open access land and around 2,000 miles of public rights of way....(short extract)
