Question: Was Leni Riefenstahl a Nazi Propagandist?
Answer: Leni Riefenstahl (22nd August 1902- 8th September 2003) was a renowned German film director, actress and dancer. She famously produced films such as “Triumph des Willens” (1935) which featured Hitler himself; unlike any other such films with the presence of the Fuhrer. The films produced very much depicted the transitional period from the Weimer republic to Hitler’s third Reich by 1933. The film mentioned previously very much envisioned the “fuhrerprinzip” which put emphasis towards the rebirth of Germany as a great power thus making this film a prime example of propaganda. To deal with the issue as to whether she was a Nazi propagandist or not we must look at whether she supported the Nazi regime or not to an extent; in other words focusing on her films rather than political beliefs for the regime since being a Nazi propagandist doesn’t necessarily suggest she supported the ...(short extract)
