Answer: Priestly chose the name “inspector ghoole” because it made an impression on all of the characters in the play as it sounds spooky and mysterious. The name “inspector Ghoole” was a very important choice of name in the play because first of all it is a proper noun and it makes the inspector sound unique and another thing is that it is also a pun because this name sounds very much like other words however it may have different meanings for example in this play it may be used just as a name but the name “Ghoole” also sounds like a Homophone “Ghoul” which adds a completely new meaning to the name and describes a spooky and mysterious figure.
