Answer: Finally the day came when we were to start a new beginning, the 10th April 1912. We had been waiting so long for the day to come. Ever since Father had lost his job life had become very difficult for all of us, so much that my brother had to leave school to start work. What little money he earned was spent on essentials. We had heard rumours of a new luxury liner being commissioned in London. We never thought that we would be a part of such a historic event. We never realised how true that statement would be. When the news of the Titanic came, Mother surprised us and told us that we were going to New York where we could start a new life. We couldn’t wait for the great future ahead of us.
When we arrived at the docks, the weather was typically English. It was misty and cold, with rain falling heavily on our heads. There were so many people bustling around the streets that it was hard...(short extract)
