Answer: Abstract
Stroop’s theory looked at how interference affected automatic processing. Stroop suggested that reading the colour of the ink in a different colour to the word itself would confuse the brain as words are processed very quickly regardless of the ink colour, so having to name the colour of the ink would take more time. Using an opportunity sample of 10 participants made up of friends and family, using a repeated measure design. The experimental hypothesis tested was the length of time taken for participants to name the set of incongruent colour words will be greater than the length of time taken to name the set of congruent colour words. This is a directional hypothesis. The null hypothesis is that there will be no difference in the time between the incongruent Stroop test and the congruent test.
