Question: Study: The Effects Of Attractiveness On Peoples’ Perception Of Intelligence.
Answer: The study was an examination of the effects of physical attractiveness on perceived intelligence. It was hypothesised that the more attractive a person is the more intelligent they are assumed to be by other people. The participants were initially 20 undergraduates from Warwick University and then a further 60 participants. Each participant rated 20 male and female pictures that had been previously chosen as being in the top five most attractive and bottom five least attractive. The participants were asked to rate these pictures on intelligence on a scale of 1 to a 100 simply by looking at the pictures. On this scale a rating of 100 represented high intelligence levels....(short extract)
