Answer: ‘A fully ethical study would mean that all ethical issues are fully resolved.’ This essay will look at the degree that this is possible when carrying out research with children and young people. It will begin by considering the general ethical frameworks and then will examine how issues such as, aims of the research, access to children, informed consent and respectful methods were considered ethically by the researchers, Pickett (2002), Rassool (1999), Punch (2001) and Aldgate and Bradley (1999).
Considerations by ethicists about what is ‘good,’ ethical research has led to a framework consisting of three main approaches to ethical research. These are; the principles of respect and justice, rights based research, and best outcomes based ethics.
