Answer: Research explores issues by setting questions and engaging with participants to collect data through various approaches. The results of such research with and on children can help us to understand childhood and children and may answer fundamental questions though will not be enough to necessarily solve them.
There are several different approaches designed for both social and psychological research. Each of these has various methods of discovery.
Starting with empirical research where the core ideas involve a ‘systematic investigation of experience that should be both sceptical and ethical’ (Robson,2002). Empirical research started in the late Middle ages, rediscovering the philosophies of Aristotle and Plato.
