Answer: There are 5 main legislation acts that influence working practices in the setting which are the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, Childcare Act 2006, Equality Act 2006 and Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.
‘The 1989 Children Act is especially well known for its stance that children’s welfare is of paramount importance.’ (Tassoni.P et al, 2007, 116) This means that the children need to have their basic needs met, be loved, cared for and to be treated fairly. My placement puts this into practice by meeting the children’s basic needs, for example cooking different meals for children with allergies or religious beliefs.
