Answer: Debating whether to send their child to day-care or not is an issue most parents of young children in the western society face. There are various reasons for choosing day-care, the major one being the job limitations of working mothers, while other reasons can range from providing some relief for a busy mother or providing some social interaction for a child who needs it. However, putting a small child in the hands of a complete stranger is no easy task and most parents weigh the benefits and drawbacks of a day-care setting before reaching a decision. A day-care centre will provide a structured and formal environment and engage the child with a balanced mix of educational activities and opportunities for social interaction, besides being a licenced setting, with experienced staff which is inspected periodically by relevant authorities (Babycentre, 2016).
