Question: EDEN PROJECT SITE REPORT

Answer: The Eden project consists of 3 biomes (spheres made of a glass type material – see Appendix 1, Figure 1) placed in Cornwall in disused quarries. The largest biome is 240 meters long, 55 meters high and 110 meters wide. It has been described as the biggest conservatory in the world, which it truly is! Also there is a visitor centre at the start of the complex.

The three biomes are split into different climates:
· The ‘Roofless’ Biome – which is at our normal, British climate and can support plants from Australia, Chile and the Himalayas.
· ‘Humid Tropics’ Biome – this is a ‘Jungle’ and harbours such plants as can be found in Amazonia, West Africa and Malaysia. (see Appendix One, Figure 4)
· The ‘Warm Temperate’ Biome – this has such things as vineyards...(short extract)
