Answer: This essay will argue that risk is not evenly spread across all people in the contemporary world, using evidence and examples in support of this position, defining key terms and highlighting their relevance to the argument. The concept of risk will be explored looking at, types of risk, who is affected and how vulnerability varies across people and places. Nature's and society's involvement in this process will be discussed, used to highlight the blame attributed in explaining disasters, showing how institutions use nature as a scapegoat to deny their complicity. Risk exists for all throughout our everyday life. We constantly, consciously and subconsciously, assess risk in relation to needs and benefits be it for a mundane risk, crossing the road, or a dramatic risk, bungee jumping.
