Question: Biology Lab report: Investigation as to why caffeine affects an organism’s physiology and neural function

Answer: Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of caffeine on the physiology and neural activity of daphnia. The study was done by subjecting the daphnia to varying concentrations of caffeine solution; the results collected show a positive correlation between the concentration of caffeine solution and the heart rate of the daphnia, the data collected shows a clear trend and supported my hypothesis.

Rationale
The effects of caffeine on the central nervous system are increased neural function as well as physiological function, due to the suppressing of the pharmacological effects of adenosine. This implies that, increasing the amount of caffeine would increase the neural and physiological function of the daphnia; the limitations of suitable equipment mean that neural function cannot really be measured, another possibility could be, to test the effect of increasing...(short extract)
