Answer: Professionals could ask the child what he/she did over the weekend to get involved to show that you are listening to the child. You could also ask parents/carers what their child did over the weekend. For example ask the child ‘What did you do over the weekend Lucy?’, the child replies ‘I went swimming with my mum’ Professional ‘Aww that’s nice you went swimming with your mum’ to show you are listening.
Professionals aren’t allowed to talk to colleagues about the child’s private information; they need to be fair and consistence. For example the parents have split up; the professionals aren’t allowed to tell the other colleagues about what happened.
The environment for the parent/carer is important because it needs to be clean, friendly and a positive. Professionals will need to keep the environment in a friendly clean state so the parents have a piece of mind ...(short extract)
