Answer: The topic of work-life balance explores methods of flexible working and family friendly working schemes which give employees “a wider choice of types of work, and allows those who do not want a full time, permanent employment, better opportunities to combine work with other aspects of their lives’ Beardwell et al (2001 p 105).
The objectives for this piece of research were to review a variety of published material on work-life balance and flexibility of work in order to develop understanding as to whether organisations are able to increase staff retention through improving the work-life balance of employees. Then through the findings of the literature review create an effective hypothesis which could be tested by a range of primary research methods to draw conclusions as to the effect work-life balance policies have on staff retention.....(short extract)
