Question: What functions do the Kidney’s carry out?

Answer: The kidneys are central to homeostatic regulation. They excrete soluble waste, help to maintain the water and electrolyte composition of body fluids and regulate pH in conjunction with the lungs and other buffer systems. They are the main organ of nitrogenous excretion.
Apart from two kidneys which produce urine, the structures of the urinary system are two ureters which transport urine, the bladder acting as a temporary reservoir for urine and the urethra which conveys urine to the exterior during micturition (passing of urine)....(short extract)
