Question: Final piece oil paint evaluation.
Answer: My final piece was done using oil paint since i found this to be effective in the depiction of human skin; enabling me to create vivid tonal blends and a rich texture. I found this to be successful due to my experimentation and previous experience with oil paint. I created a soft texture with blurred and irregular brush strokes using a clean brush to avoid the skin looking too artificial. I used combinations and different harmonies of colour to create human flesh since it is not one specific colour. This was difficult, though I chose to use muted tones of yellow, green and brown. These colours were vital to the overall meaning; representing the death of a former self. However I also used complementary colours to create a stark contrast. These colours which represent decay and morbidity are heavily inspired by the work of Egon Schiele; I admire his use of colour, I think it gives the illu...(short extract)
