Question: DESIGN / PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE ANALYTICAL STUDY
Answer: For my design the standard consultants, such as: structural engineer, services engineer, quantity surveyor, and planning consultant would all need to be employed.
The structural engineer would need to be involved in the project at a very early stage due to the nature of my design. My project & the form of my building is based closely around the steel structure, tension cables, and oak beams. See Figure One & Two:
During my design I consulted 4 different engineers, each had different suggestions and recommendations for me and, as the architect I was left to choose between these differences of opinion.
The nature of my design means that the structure of the roof will move slightly under wind loading and temperature differences. This means that the cantilever over the glazing had to be designed in such a way that it would not crush the glass underneath. For this a manufacture...(short extract)
