Answer: As one might expect, there are many contrasts between the characteristics credited to the characters of an ancient Greek tragedy and a Victorian play renowned for exposing Shaw’s feminist views. However there are many similarities to be found also, regarding the attributes traditionally associated with masculinity and femininity. There are several strong, well-developed characters in both Pygmalion and Medea; in each we see quite diverse personalities, from the assertive and domineering to the weak and naïve, both male and female. It is also quite clear that throughout both plays, a number of characters undergo transformations influenced by many factors, for example, the manipulation of others, greed and revenge....(short extract)
