Question: UCAS Personal Statements – Engineering

Answer: Engineering has always appealed to me due to my logical mind and love of practical tasks. Ever since my first visit to Ironbridge, the site of the first cast iron bridge built by Abraham Darby in 1779, and learning about George Stephenson's "Rocket" I hove been fascinated by invention and manufacturer and all of the processes and toil that precede them.

Of all of the different engineering disciplines I am most interested in mechanical engineering. I especially like this field because of the way in which you must apply the rules and principles of physics and maths to all sorts of everyday or specialised machines....(short extract)
