Question: UCAS Personal Statement - Classics
Answer: A Classics course would offer me the chance to develop a wide range of academic skills, from the grammatical challenge of the Greek and Latin languages to the criticism of literary texts. I hope that my wide range of interests and achievements will prepare me for such a course.
I have especially enjoyed the opportunity to study the Homeric epics, The Iliad and The Odyssey. In the former I have examined and enjoyed in particular the domestic scenes away from the battlefield and have found Homer's ability to portray a humane world through the medium of war poetry remarkable....(short extract)
