Answer: My initial distraction to Economics stemmed from a talk I attended by Prof. P Minford on the current economic situation in the EU. This focused on the introduction of the ten new countries and their effects on subsidies and employment. I subsequently defended another
fascinating meeting in which we discussed the work of John Maynard Keynes. This brought to my attention the importance of stimulation of employment. The sheer volatility of the economy astonished me and this led me to read Keynes' ‘The General Theory'

In order to explore the subject further, I helped to create a Stock and Shares trading club based largely around the FTSE IOO and founded a Young Enterprise Company for which I am currently the Managing Director....(short extract)
