Answer: The business world has fascinated me for a long time, triggered by following the fortunes of specific companies through The Economist and Financial Times. For example The international mining company Xstata whose expansion and diversification into various aspects of The mining sector produced rapid growth over the past three years. In contrast, Transiberian Gold, a company in the same sector, lacked the resources and initiatives to diversify away from precious metals and as a result has suffered decline. I am intrigued by the economic, geographical and managerial factors that influenced two such differing outcomes and my interest in such matters is the foundation for my choosing business studies....(short extract)
