Answer: This piece of reflective writing shall give an overview of the changes and challenges that the new family may experience, looking from the mothers, fathers and the baby’s perspective. Within my work I shall use Gibbs’ model of reflection to structure reflection throughout my writing. I will start by outlining the main developing and changing relationships during the transition to parenthood, inclusive of those between the parent and baby and within the couple relationship. To enable this, I shall give an overview of the module. Moving forwards, I will further explore the practical, emotional and psychological needs of babies with reference to infant development. To complete this, I shall refer to the behaviours of infants using Bowbly’s (2001) Attachment theory.
