Answer: Introduction
This assignment will look at the concept of health, its inequalities and what effect these inequities have on society today. It will explore what health policy is and how it has evolved. Nurses require an understanding of the policy process to allow them to develop their skills and participate in future policy developments. To aid this understanding an analysis of a local Southern Health Foundation Trust (SHFT) policy will be carried out. Finally the policy will be linked to practice by exploring its implications to the Health Visitor role.
The chosen policy is the SHFT Breastfeeding Policy, accessible to all but aimed at SHFT staff that are in contact with pregnant women and mothers of babies.
