Answer: Abstract
Background: It is recognised that breastfeeding provides long and short term health benefits to infant and mother. Despite current evidence and global strategies to support and promote breastfeeding, adolescents have the lowest breastfeeding rates in Europe.

Aim: This paper aimed to critically analyse and evaluate the evidence base for adolescent mothers and the role of peer support to increase breastfeeding duration.

Method: A literature search was conducted on peer support for breastfeeding adolescent’s breastfeeding. Three research studies were critiqued and analysed guided by an evaluative framework specifically created. The evidence base was discussed and recommendations for future practice and research were made.
