Answer: There are many factors affecting the reporting of news such as cultural relevance, the time frame in which the news can be reported and even the availability of footage to reinforce the story. The Glasgow Media Group quote ‘The Task of Broadcasting News’ (a BBC pamphlet), in reference to the news values which dictate precedence as the ‘dramatic’ aspects of events and as being “the relevant detail, the interesting human touch which distinguishes the newsworthy story.”...(short extract)
