Contracts are issued to all new employees, they must contain the individuals start date, pay rate, pay method, pay date, hours of work, notice of termination, holiday entitlement and job title, all contracts must also be issued within the first 8 weeks of employment (Employment Rights Act 1996). Metroline’s HR department only compose and issue new contracts to existing employees if there is a major change in the employee’s circumstances. If an employee changed their job role, a new contract is then issued. Any other changes are confirmed via letter stating the variation and filed in their personnel file. The contract is posted to the employee prior to starting employment, it is signed by HR and the employee will return one signed copy to be filed in their personnel file and the other copy is to keep for their own records.
