Question: TMA 04 Critically discuss the meaning of ‘risk’ in relation to children. What is the role of practitioners in keeping children safe?

Answer: This essay will briefly look at a how perceptions of risk have changed over time concentrating on risk and the postmodern society. It will critically analyze the challenges faced by parents in a society increasingly dominated by fear of risks in relation to children by outlining both theoretical and practical perspectives and examples. It will continue by analyzing the challenges faced by practitioners when implementing safeguarding procedure and interagency working especially when tryiieng to protect children and young people from child abuse or domestic violence.
By drawing on serious case inquiries, policies and theoretical perspectives key factors and practice recommendations will be discussed.
