Answer: Understanding children and young people is a complex process, with various theories and perspectives developing all the time. Childhood is filled with multiple transitions, some which are universal and others which are much more complicated and are a result of adversity. Certainly, the process of change is something that all individuals face however, how resilient children are will affect how they cope with their progression in to adulthood. Therefore an appreciation of the difficulties and complexities of the transitions children face is critical to developing support systems that help to promote healthy development.
