Answer: This assignment will summarise the experience of Pakistani and Indian patients within Scottish diabetes services based on a resource produced in 2006 by Julia Lawton, Naureen Ahmad, Nina Hollowell, Lisa Hannah and Margret Douglas. It’s known that diabetes is nearly four times more recorded in South Asian citizens in Britain (D’Costa Et Al, 1991) than in the overall public as well as having a higher change of having diabetic difficulties (Raleigh Et Al, 1997).

Between 2003 and 2004, 32 customers with type 2 diabetes were approached to receive an interview in Edinburgh. 23 were Pakistani and 9 were Indian. The customers had the choice of whether they were interviewed in English, Punjabi or both before being put into written form. They were chosen based on factors such as age, sex, familiarity with English; it was found that the 17 women and 15 men of age 33-78 found they had type 2 ...(short extract)
