Question: Why was Germany defeated in the First World War?

Answer: During the course of the First World War Germany was never invaded. German defeat occurred because the country had no more to give. When the German Commander Ludendorff 1 launched the spring offensive 2 in March 1918, he was fully aware that this was the last ditch attempt to win the war. With the USA declaring war on Germany a year earlier and becoming more and more involved in the war, Germany knew that as they defeated Russia in the East they must transfer all troops to the Western Front immediately, in one last push to secure victory....(short extract)
