Answer: 1.1 The principles of professional supervisions are to provide an opportunity for a manager and a staff member to sit down on a one to one basis, in a planned and confidential meeting. Staff must always be made aware of the limits of confidentiality. For example, serious concerns about another member of staffs practice cannot remain confidential and will be discussed with the appropriate bodies on a need to know basis. This is the process in which a staff member and their manager can sit down to review and evaluate the staff members work through discussion. It supports staff members to meet performance standards, competencies and expectations within the service and the company. It identifies areas and targets for improvement, and associated training and support needs. It reviews future aspirations and sets goals for personal development. Supervisions will be carried out every 4-6 weeks....(short extract)
