Answer: There are many pieces of legislation relevant to this unit which as an organisation and as individuals we ensure that we comply with. The organisation provides a service, which is both anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory and the staff work within the philosophy of normalisation and inclusion. Normalisation is associated with ideologies that disabled people should have the same rights, respect, choices, opportunities and participation in community life and activities that are available to ordinary people, reducing the stigma displayed by wider society. One of the founders of this theory is Wolfensberger, he emphasises ‘socially valued roles’, and this led to the later renaming of normalisation by Wolfensberger as Social Role Valorisation (SOV)....(short extract)
