Question: Why is act 1 scene 5 an effective piece of drama?

Answer: Act 1 scene 5 of ‘Romeo & Juliet’ is an important part of the play. This is where the two lovers, Romeo & Juliet, meet. It also includes the decision which Lord Capulet makes that changes the fate of his daughter and Romeo. This is also includes the part where Tybalt swears that he will seek revenge from Romeo, also this builds up tension and tells the audience that something bad is going to happen later on in the play.

Shakespeare has structured his play in such a way that many things can happen at the same time, this allows a lot of time for the plot to develop further....(short extract)
