Answer: Childcare professionals in early year’s settings are encountered with a number of behavioural issues on a day-to-day basis. It is vital that every early year’s settings have a behaviour policy and have strategies in place for encouraging positive behaviour as well as reducing challenging behaviour. When children start school teachers should establish the classroom rules to avoid disruptive behaviour (Felix 2011). This essay will discuss what behaviour is and the theoretical perspectives of behaviourism and Bandura’s social learning theory. It will then look at how the environment has an impact on behaviour. The essay will then examine the Incredible Years programme and how they encourage positive behaviour strategies.
