Three years ago, I decided to take a gap year and volunteer for a children’s charity. It allowed me to travel out to a small town in South Africa called Robertson where I was able to first hand see and experience their schooling system and homes. Being able to volunteer and gain such an incredible and life changing experience gave me a passion for working with children and enjoying seeing them learn and understand wherever they were at in their personal journey. I discovered that school was more than just learning how to read and write but about obtaining the most valuable tool in life which is communication.
Whilst volunteering at School A in June 2016, I developed an interest to become a Teaching Assistant. From working in a variety of Year 3 and 4 classrooms, I was fortunate to observe a range of teaching methods and picked up valuable tips that I am currently...(short extract)
