Answer: TMA 04 Part 2 - Essay - The commercial world is where marketing agencies and advertisers manufacture products and goods to buy and sell to individual markets around the world. It provides a market specifically for ‘Tweenagers’ where as well as making purchases, they are able to get advice and express their views. Young people’s desires are the things that they are attracted to within the commercial world, this may include fashion, toys, technology, music and social media. Their agency is the capacity to act individually to; participate in their world, be heard, and make choices that may affect them. I am going to look at the arguments for and against Kehily’s view including; commercialism and David Buckingham’s views, saturation by consumerism, and sexualisation and the Dolly magazine.
