Answer: Part 1 - Early emotional Interactions with others can impact on children, Bowlby’s (1969) attachment theory emphasises the importance of a secure and trusting mother-infant bond on development and well-being. Due to not being able to provide for themselves infants depend on others to provide the basic needs of warmth, shelter and food. John Bowlby highlighted the importance of infants having a relationship with their primary caregiver; his attachment theory was influenced by his practice of work during the 1930s. This is when he devised his idea that if there is disruption to the maternal bond in early childhood then this will ultimately affect the child’s future development. Bowlby suggested that young children from strong mutual attachments with their primary caregivers, gaining a sense of emotional and physical security.
